SC Kiyovu coach Casa warns rivals when season resumes
Former league champions SC Kiyovu head coach;Andre Casa Mbungo, believes his side will keep fighting to the top position for Azam Rwanda premier league when league resumes on February, 6.
Former AS Kigali and Police head coach has warned the rivals that they will keep fighting for the top position until the end of the season.
Mumena-based lead the table with 20 points after ten rounds, one point ahead of AS Kigali and two ahead of 16 league champions APR.
“It’s a serious competition in league this season and it will be tough to be champion indeed, there’s not easy task but we will keep looking on how we can do better in every game we have ahead of us,” Casa Mbungo told RuhagoYacu.
“It may look as though the race is between the top five teams. If we keep winning our games and our rivals lose a couple of matches between now and end of the season, the picture can easily change. That is why I say we will fight until the end,” he added.
SC Kiyovu will back on field hosting Bugesera after the season will be off for a month. “Even if the club is really performing well, we still think we will add some new characters in the team to keep our good position.”
Casa Mbungo definitely thinks that the team will have new players, he added “Yes, we are looking for best strikers but I can’t tell the names because we still haven’t decided”.
Talking about the league, former Sec academy coach says “I can’t tell much about the game because we still have a whole month to prepare for it.”
The two times Peace Cup winner with AS Kigali in 2013 and 2015 with Police is playing to have the friendly games before the league resumes.
He said, “We are considering it but then it’s not that easy as most of the teams are our opponents in the league, but we can still look in the teams we recently faced like Etincelles and Marines, plus those we are not facing anytime soon.”
However, APR FC, AS Kigali, Rayon Sports and Police Fc will play the Heroes cup tournament from January, 23 to February, 1 where they will play the robin round system, match will be held at Amahoro National Stadium.
The league has been called off to allow Senior national team ‘Amavubi’ to prepare for Total 2018 African Nations Championship which will run from January 13 to February, 4 in Casablanca, Morocco.
