University of Kibungo Volleyball Club (UNIK) have signed new head coach Jean Luc Mbonyuwontuma aka Kizungu from Sport-S in Uganda for a two-year deal.
Kizungu played for Christ Roi, Kigali Volleyball Club and APR, National University of Rwanda and UNIK.
According to the President of UNIK Volleyball Laurent Ngarambe, Kizungu has been appointed to replace Dominique Ntawangundi who joined Kirehe VC.
“Mbonyuwontuma started training with team last week with young players and will work on building new young generation and after one year, we will target the trophy,” Ngarambe told RuhagoYacu.
Mbonyuwontuma said that it is not easy to complete next season, but that they train step by step and that the young players will get more experience.
Some players joined other clubs from UNIK including: Vincent Dusabimana, Eugene Tuyishimire and Rugina Fabrice signed Gisagara while Olivier Ntagengwa was joined REG.
UNIK Volleyball finished on five place last season in an eight-club first division.
The men’s league was supposed to start on January 13 next year and general assembly was set on January 6.
Gisagara and Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) are the defending champions in the men and women leagues. Both UNIK and RRA will represent Rwanda at the 2018 Africa Club Championships.
