Espoir humiliated Rusizi in Basketball league
Former National Basketball League champions Espoir Basketball Club have got the perfect win of the season after thrashing Rusizi BBC on Saturday morning in match played at Amahoro Indoor Stadium.
Maxime Mwiseneza’s team won over Rusizi 95-52 with deference of 43 points.
Espoir lead from the start 22 to 18 in first quarter before winning the remaining three quarters 23-09, 28-13 and 22-12 respectively.
SHYAKA Eric (Rusizi) was top scorer with 14 Points, followed by MBAYIHA Emely (Rusizi) with 13 Points, HABINEZA Shaffi (ESPOIR) with 13 Points, SANGWE Armel (ESPOIR) with 12 Points and BAGABO Phenias (ESPOIR) with 12 Points
During the game, Espoir missed two key players due to injuries i.e. Niyonkuru Pascal and Gatoto Regis who injured their heads.
However, Patriots Basketball Club beat APR basketball club 68 to 52 in match played on Friday night at Amahoro National Indoor Stadium.
Patriots won first quarter 21-14, Henry Mwinuka’s took second quarter 13-10, they went to win third quarter 16-12 before winning last quarter 15-16.
Top Scorers were KASONGO Junior (Patriots) 16 Points, MUGABE Aristide (Patriots) 11 points and MBANZE Brian (APR) 11 points.
The 2016 league champions and reigning play-off games winners, Patriots have signed two more players to strengthen the squad in the bid to wrestle back the league title from Rwanda Energy Group (REG) as well as go for the 2018 FIBA Africa Zone V Club Championships.
REG is leading the table with 9 points in 5 games, followed by Patriots with 9. ESPOIR is on fourth place with 8 points after 6 games. IPRC-KIGALI has 6 points after 4 games while APR followed with 6 points in 4 games
In other match IPRC South beat UGB 75-58 UGB. The first quarter ended 18-15, second quarter went to visitors 19-15 while they went to win two last quarters 17-11 and 21-17
